When I'm at home, when I travel or even when I'm going to any inspiring place such as a fabric store, museum, etc. I usually carry my "Design Journal" with me. What is a designer's journal? For me, it's just a small sketchbook with white pages where I draw ideas that come to my mind. In addition to that, I paste small pictures that give me even more inspiration to develop my design, fabric swatches that may be a possible selection for that design, etc. I love to do that just because I think it's a better way to have a concrete idea of what you want to achieve in a design, of course that doesn't have to be the final design; it's just a good way to start organizing your ideas.
I took three pages of my own design journal and I scanned them for you, just to give you a better idea of what I was saying. The sketches are not that clear because they were drawn with pencil. The sketches are also very small because of the size of the sketchbook, sorry about that. Oh before I forget, I'll be out of town for some days (I'm so excited!!!). I promise I'll post pictures about my trip when I come back. I'll be checking your lovely comments from there because they always brighten up my day ♥
Take care and see you soon! ♥ ♥
Design Journal
I just wanted to show you
the layout of my journal

This is a little girl wearing
a peruvian costume, she was
my inspiration for these designs.

I want to see close-ups of the figures! I love the simplicity, but I can see so much more detail in those figures that I want to see...
ReplyDeleteHi E, sorry about the size, the sketches are tiny because of the size of my sketchbook. I'll put more designs soon, bigger ones. Thanks for your comment :)
